On the morning of September 16, 2022, the Class of 2024 freshmen of the Master of Engineering Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (short in ECE program) from Duke Kunshan University visited the Microsoft Software Technology Center (STC) Asia (Suzhou Branch).
The students visited the technology showroom to learn about the changes in Microsoft China over the past 30 years and the establishment and development of Microsoft Suzhou. Students learned and experienced Surface Studio, Surface Book, Hololens and other R&D products, and fully felt Microsoft’s technology accumulation in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and AR.

Wesley Miao, the Principal Group Engineering Manager, gave students an insightful introduction to Microsoft technologies, including distributed systems, DevOps, Big Data, AI, etc. He took real examples from Microsoft to emphasize that the most important thing is to build up a solid foundation during graduate studies. “A small mistake can lead to a huge bug.”
Morgan Zhang, the HR recruiter, gave students a detailed introduction to Microsoft’s business departments and the suitable educational/technical background for each department, as well as the recruiting timeline, the interview process, and the salary & welfare of Microsoft’s school recruiting.
Liyu Cao, the software development engineer, shared with the students the working experience, working pattern and working atmosphere at Microsoft. He also shared some interview techniques.
